Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is right around the corner, and here is everything you need to know to get involved on Friday 30th September!
Who Are Macmillan?
Right now, there are more then 3 million people living with cancer in the UK. Macmillan Cancer Support exists to raise money to improve the care, treatment and quality of life of people affected by cancer.
However, their work requires vital funds to be raised through fundraising by individuals like you. The Macmillan coffee morning is their largest fundraising activity of the year and provides the crucial donations needed to run services like their cancer support line and wellbeing coaches.
What is Macmillan’s Coffee Morning?
The first Macmillan’s coffee morning was organised by a small group of people in 1990. The premise was simple: attendees would meet and socialise with friends and donate the cost of their coffee to Macmillan. Since then, it has grown to the nationwide scheme we know today and over £290 million have been raised.
How Can You Get Involved?
Coffee mornings can mean different things to different organisers. You could arrange to meet with friends in your own home, throw a bakesale for your colleagues at work or cook a meal for your flatmates.
To get started, sign up on the Macmillan website now and register for a free fundraising kit. Inside, you will find bunting, balloons and a table cloth as well as recipes, a collection box and posters to help you advertise your event.
If you do not want to host a coffee morning yourself, feel free to attend one of the mornings near you. You can find local events on the Macmillan website or keep an eye out for posters hung in and around the borough. Coffee mornings are held in many different venues, so there will surely be one close to you!
