Spring Volunteering

27 February 2023

Spring is a time of new beginnings as the world comes back to life after the cold winter. It’s also a great time to get involved in volunteering and give back to your community. Here are some ideas for spring volunteering:

  • Community Clean-ups: Spring is the perfect time to organize a community clean-up. You can get together with your neighbours and pick up litter, plant flowers, and beautify your neighbourhood. You can also organize a clean-up at a local park or nature reserve to help preserve the environment. We even have some already available for you to sign up to if you may not have the time to organise such an event, you can see some of those here.

  • Garden Maintenance: Spring is the time when gardens come to life. If you have a green thumb, consider volunteering at a community garden or a local park to help with maintenance and planting. You can also offer to help seniors in your community with their gardens. See our gardening opportunities here.

  • Spring Festivals: Spring festivals are a great opportunity to get involved in your community. With events such as Mayfest fast approaching consider volunteering to help with setup and clean-up, work a booth or activity, or assist with parking or security. It’s a great way to meet new people and have fun while giving back.

  • Animal Shelters: Animal shelters will start to become overcrowded with new litters of kittens, puppies and other furry friends. If you love animals, consider volunteering at a local shelter to help care for and socialize with the animals. You can also assist with adoption events or fundraising.

There are so many volunteering opportunities to get involved in this spring. Whether you want to beautify your community, care for animals, or help those in need, there are opportunities for everyone. Be sure to visit our volunteering opportunities tab to find out what we have available at the moment!
