Loneliness is a normal human emotion experienced by us all through different life events. For those that have good support networks around them, a hug, a text, a coffee can be enough to breakthrough the lies that say you are alone, and it will pass, but sadly for many in Basildon who are socially isolated they need our practical help and support to find a way out of loneliness.
Feeding the Family are a charity that helps the lonely people in Basildon in a tangible and practical way, offering a way out of loneliness through a programme that uses food as a tool and brings people into the community.
As a Trustee, you will work alongside a small, committed team to shape strategy, ensure financial stability, and safeguard our values, ensuring that every decision supports our mission to bring people out of isolation. Join us in building a community where no one feels alone.
Here is what that looks like in practice:
Keeping the charity focused on its purpose -
Making sure everything we do aligns with our mission of tackling loneliness in
Basildon through food and community.
Following the rules - Ensuring we stick to our governing document,
charity laws, and any other important regulations.
Using resources wisely - Making sure our funds and resources are spent
in a way that directly benefits those we support.
Setting goals and measuring progress - Helping define what success looks
like and checking that we are on track.
Protecting our reputation and values - Representing the charity in a
positive way and ensuring we uphold our mission and ethos.
Helping things run smoothly - Ensuring we have the right policies and
procedures in place to operate effectively.
Looking after finances - Keeping an eye on our financial health to
ensure the charity remains sustainable.
Supporting leadership - Overseeing the appointment and guidance of key
team members, such as the Charity’s chief executive.
Attending meetings – 6 meetings a year
In addition to these responsibilities, you will bring your own skills and experience to help make well-informed decisions, provide fresh ideas, and support the team in meaningful ways. Whether reviewing plans, offering advice, or championing new initiatives, your involvement will shape the future of Feeding the Family and the people we serve.
