As a befriender you will be responsible for making weekly telephone calls to clients that you have been assigned. You will have completed the befriender training and will work within the guidelines for this role.
Your main
responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Making a weekly telephone call to your assigned clients.
Making notes after the telephone call - which are then forwarded onto the
Therapeutic Lead.
To escalate concerns to the Therapeutic Lead.
What skills do I need?
As a befriender you will be someone who can have a positive conversation with someone – either on the telephone or face to face. You will have an understanding of positive topics to introduce. You will be able to spot the signs that someone is struggling and will know how to escalate this to the Therapeutic Lead.
You will be someone who is reliable and who will be able to support clients on a weekly basis. You will have a good understanding of the work that Motivated Minds does and you will be able to refer clients to groups run by Motivated Minds that may be suitable for them.
As a befriender
you will be someone who is approachable, friendly and easy to talk to. You will
enjoy getting to know people and supporting them with their mental health.
This is a
rewarding role which would suit someone who likes to chat and wants to make a
positive difference to the lives of other people.
