ROLE SUMMARY
To work alongside clinical staff to provide an extra dimension to care by providing social support for Emergency Care patients - including patients with dementia, their carers and patients without a relative/carer. Shift times either 10.00am to 2.00pm or 4.00pm to 8.00pm
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assisting at meal times AND support with regular tea rounds.
2. Assistance with stocking linen trolleys and checking if patients might need extra blankets or pillows
3. Assistance with restocking
4. Time to talk with patients and carers, especially patients without support
5. Supporting the completion of Communication Passports/’This is me’ and the Sunflower Scheme.
6. 1 to 1 activities, e.g. reading, games, reminiscence with patients with dementia.
What skills do I need?
- Full Training will be given
- Be able to maintain good relationships with patients and staff.
- Be able to carry our virtual visits and/or deliver personal messages from loved ones to our patients
- To be helpful and observant.
- To respect confidentiality at all times
- To establish good communications with other members of the Ward/Department/Team.
- Be caring, kind and compassionate.
- Professional manner.
