Would you like to help at the Centre for Disabled People in Thaxted?
Our members, who are all physically disabled, come to the Centre on Mondays and Thursdays.
We offer both recreational and social activity to promote and increase independence and quality of life. They are cared for by 8 volunteer helpers. This is a very friendly atmosphere and the members all enjoy coming so that they can meet with other people, especially those who live alone.
Our volunteers greet and meet members on their arrival, helping with taking off and hanging coats and provide any general assistance as and when required. Opportunity to join outings twice/three times a year and regular fundraising events i.e. coffee mornings, craft fairs and table top crafts at village events.
First aid training is not essential, although we offer training on an annual basis (certificate provided). There is also an option for Safeguard training.
There is no personal care or manual handling required for any of our volunteers.
