Riding for the Disabled sessions enable mentally and physically disabled children to enjoy horse riding, to enhance their quality of life.
Children from several local schools attend with learning support assistants who can act as side walkers. Volunteers act as pony leaders and side walkers at these sessions which are held Thursday and Friday mornings
(approximately 9.15am to 11.15 pm), term time only.
What skills do I need?
Love of children and/or ponies but not necessary to be able to ride. Must be physically fit.
Must complete Riding for the Disabled training.
Instructors must be confident with horses and be able to project their voice and control the ride. Training is in house and takes about 1 year - based on the number of hours they attend the sessions.
