Help With Horse Riding for the Disabled

← Back to search results

Barrow Farm is a specialist centre offering riding and driving to 120 disabled children and adults. Many of our riders have severe and complex needs, including life limiting conditions. Some of our riders need 3 supporters to help them enjoy their ride so we have over 100 volunteers who work with us every week and new team members are always welcome.

You don't need to be knowledgeable about horses, although it can be useful! It is good if you are interested in children and not afraid of horses! You can help for anything from one hour a week to several days. We prefer for the volunteers to come regularly at the same time each week. Age range of our current volunteers is 13 up to 70's, you should be reasonably fit but will get fitter working with us!

We love showing prospective volunteers around. We are rural so getting to us on public transport requires commitment!

What skills do I need?

Whatever you have to bring to our charity. Physically fit to help with rides and on yard. Practical skills to help with land and buildings maintenance.

- Mondays (mornings or afternoons).- Thursday mornings.- Short sessions on Wednesdays which would best suit folk who live near to Highwood.
