Based in Thaxted,  CraftAbility offers craft activities to adults living with physical disability. The Centre is open 2 days a week and is manned entirely by an amazing group of volunteers. Members have the opportunity to meet new people in similar circumstances and learn new craft skills in a welcoming environment. This is an exciting time for us and there is a lot to do to progress our new brand and engagement with the communities we serve.

The work of the Centre is overseen by Trustees who meet 4 times a year. The Trustees oversee the work of the Centre, reviewing finances, and keeping the income flowing through fundraising and grant applications. This is a chance to work alongside an amazing group of trustees and volunteers and to experience the satisfaction of seeing first hand the difference that the Centre makes to the lives of the people it touches.

The work of the trustees is voluntary and we welcome people form all backgrounds and ages groups. We are currently particularly interested to hear from people with background, experience and ideas that might support our marketing and outreach or our fundraising.

We are also keen to find a secretary to assist with admin and information flow of the centre.

We would love to hear from anyone in the community who is interested in giving something back and would like to join the trustees. There is no specific skill requirement just a willingness to get involved.

CraftAbility is the working title of Thaxted Centre for the Disabled, a registered charity serving Uttlesford.

What skills do I need?

There are no specific skill requirements but we would be particularly interested to hear from anyone with direct or indirect experience of living with a disability who can help us to ensure that the Centre continues to provide a service that is relevant today.
