Kids Inspire have an amazing opportunity for young individuals, 16-18 years old, to train as Peer Mentors.
A volunteer Peer Mentor is a 'professional friend' who guides a young person by building trust and modelling positive behaviours in a fun and caring environment.
Volunteer Peer Mentor: Role Summary
Your objectives will be to build a trusting and reliable relationship with a young person who is in Year 5 or Year 6.
You will be a positive role model for your mentee: guiding, encouraging, motivating, and listening to the individual you support. You will also be someone with whom the young person can have fun.
Time Commitment: You will meet with your mentee for approximately 1 hour a week, at an agreed venue, out of school hours. This maybe over Zoom, What’s App, text, voice call or face to face.
Training and supervision meetings may happen over Zoom or at the Kids Inspire Head office, Hargrave House, Molrams Lane, Great Baddow CM2 7TL.
On-line training is due to start soon.
What skills do I need?
Must be 16 to 18 years old.
Kind, compassionate, patient and understanding.
Must be good at communicating, and excellent at listening and empathising.
Reliability is crucial.
