We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to lead guided walks to gently encourage and motivate people to get active, improve their physical and mental well-being and reduce social isolation.
Using the local area of Colchester, walks will be at a relaxed pace and designed to last a minimum of 30 minutes, with additional time at the beginning and the end of each session to have an informal chat and perhaps stop by a nearby Café together.
To ensure that as many people can be included as possible, the walking routes will be on flat surfaces and suitable for people of all abilities with or without mobility aids.
This opportunity to volunteer does not require previous experience or knowledge of Colchester however it is preferrable. Full training will be provided.
Our current walking routes in Colchester include:
- Greenstead
- Hythe
- Highwoods
- Colchester City Centre
- Stanway
-St Johns
Risk assessments will be completed by a member of staff.
What skills do I need?
The role would suit someone who enjoys the outdoors, is sensitive to peoples’ needs and abilities, is non-judgemental and a good communicator.
Ideally you would be a trained first aider with confidence and a positive attitude and have basic English speaking skills to enable you to complete necessary paperwork and engage with the group.
