Its Volunteers Week and to mark the occasion we have put together this ‘appreciation station’ with messages of thanks from supporters.
David Dadds , Mayor of Basildon Borough:
I wish to thank all volunteers who take time from their busy lives to help out others.
The last year has been partly challenging for many and I am profoundly appreciative for all the time, effort and energy given by all the volunteers across our five towns.
I know that in our Borough there is more that unites us than divides us. We recognise that our five towns are diverse and special. We are united by a common purpose and shared values, with no-one being left behind and everyone having a stake in our future.
Once again, thank you to all our volunteers in our Borough.
Stella Calkin, Chair of BBW CVS:
As Chair of the BBW CVS I would like to add my very grateful thanks to all those who volunteer their services. On many occasions we would be unable to continue with our projects without your help and support, and the time you give to us so willingly. You never let us down and this adds so much to the time we can give to the people of Basildon and district. My very warm thanks to you all.
Christopher Allen, Councilor – Langdon Hills Ward:
Dear staff and volunteers of BBW CVS, I wish to express my gratitude for the work you have all done, especially to those who have been able to step up against the universal enemy of the Covid-19 pandemic. The voluntary sector is a vital system in our society and local communities, and it is only right that all your efforts, work and determination are recognised during Volunteers Week 2021. You make us proud!
Cllr. Yetunde Adeshile, Councilor for Vange, Basildon:

Cllr Davida Ademuyiwa:
I want to say a big thank you to all our Covid volunteers from all walks of life: those who worked in the testing centres, those who volunteered for administration, those who helped the vulnerable with shopping, and all those who were and still volunteering behind-the-scenes making sure that everything works and every necessary deed is done, unnoticed by everyone.
Thank you for your selfless service to the Basildon community and beyond. Your labour of love is appreciated more than words can tell.
To Basildon’s Success.
Cllr Phil Turner :
I wanted to add my voice to thank all the volunteers that work selflessly and tirelessly to help residents in Basildon borough. You are truly our fourth emergency service, our quarterbacks and the glue that holds us together when we need it most, during times of difficulty.
Never more so than the testing times that we have come through most recently. COVID has stretched us all but through it all our volunteering services have been there to played a key role when we’ve needed it most.
We owe you our thanks, a debt of gratitude and hold a special place for you in our affections.
Sincere thanks and appreciation.
David Burton-Sampson, Former Mayor of Basildon Borough
I would like to send my personal thanks and best wishes to all the many and varied volunteers in the Basildon Borough. As a volunteer myself I know that many people dedicate their time selflessly and wholeheartedly to supporting others. I have said it so many times in the past whilst serving as Mayor that our volunteers and the groups they serve are the true lifeblood of our borough and we would be a much poorer place without them. Keep doing the amazing things you all do!
From all the staff at the Essex Wildlife Trust:
A huge thank you to all of the volunteers at Langdon nature reserve, over 100 local residents give their time to keep the site a haven for wildlife and safe for the public to enjoy. We would also like to thank all of our new volunteers who have signed up to get involved at the new Nature Discovery Centre when it opens over the summer.
Cllr Stuart Allen, Basildon council:
Many thanks to the volunteers who made the Vaccination Programme run smoothly in my experience at Basildon Hospital, The Towngate Theatre and the George Hurd Centre.
The process seemed to run quickly and smoothly with everyone knowing what they were doing
Janet Booth, Service Delivery Assistant, Victim Support:
Sending a massive thank you to all our Volunteers for your continued hard work over the past challenging year, in helping us to support as many victims of crime as we do. Your support and commitment helps us to help those that need us. Your contribution is recognised not just in this Volunteers’ Week, but every week. Thank you!
Martin Whybrow (Major), The Salvation Army:
Wickford Food Bank, run by local Churches and administered by The Salvation Army, would like to say “thank you” to the many people have worked hard during the 12 months to keep us open. For those who have sorted food. For those who have collected food. For those who have worked with our guests who rely on our support. For local businesses and charities who have donated food and money. We would also like to thank the residents of Wickford who have continued to care, and have shared food and money and new toys with us for last last 8 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Cllr Kevin Wingfield, Borough Councillor for Laindon Park:
With this being Volunteers Week, I just wanted to send a note of thanks to you and all volunteers who have been serving our area during the COVID pandemic, and of course before it. The pandemic has highlighted how so many in our communities rely on the good work of volunteers, and how many great people there are out there who are willing to step forward and help out those who need it, with no expectation of reward to themselves beyond the sense of satisfaction in playing an active role in making their community better.
Thank you all so much and keep up the great work!
Amanda Pinches, The Listening-Post C.I.C office manager:
Thank you to The listening post volunteers both reception and counsellors, you have our gratitude for the work you have all done and we just couldn’t do with out you. To every one who volunteers happy volunteers week
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex:
Our volunteers make a huge difference and on behalf of myself and the people of Essex, I want to say thank you to you all! This year more than ever those who give up their time to help others have shown how invaluable they are. Without them we couldn’t be able to provide the significant services we do. Even more importantly it is through volunteering and the work volunteers do that we create the communities we want to live in. They bring our services closer to the people and create the community spirit that has shone so brightly through these difficult times.
